Be ready for change

Constant change is a fact of life - if your business is "change-ready", you'll be able to cope.

In modern business life, nothing is forever. But the need to change can be an opportunity as much as a challenge, especially if you're prepared. Jon Hemming of Unity Management says being "change-ready" means knowing your business's history and past performance, knowing its strengths and weaknesses and having a plan for the future. He recommends getting outside advice in drawing up that plan - the business owner may not be able to see his own shortcomings.
