The internet and cloud computing is making the traditional approach to accounting and reporting, with its use of seperate ledgers, seem more and more outdated. That's according to David New of accounting software company Xero Australia. His company has a solution called Single Ledger which, he says, fundamentally changes the way accountants provide their services to clients. David says a single ledger gives the accountant and their client access to the same data at any time, using the same system. This removes the need for traditional time consuming tasks such as data conversion and the re-entering of transactions.
